Some individuals may work with their doctor or psychiatrist and feel that medication may be beneficial to them.

Antidepressants.

Research has found that people with bpd have low levels of serotonin. This can make the individuals commit impulsive acts of violence people with bpd can also suffer from depressive episodes. Antidepressants may be prescribed to help the individuals with this by increasing the levels of serotonin ie Prozac,citalopram.

Mood stabilizers.

People with bpd often experience severe mood swings which can seriously effect their daily life .The doctors may provide mood stabilizers such as carbamazepine and sodium valporate to help regulate their moods.

Antipsychotics.

Anti psychotics may be prescribed to help with feelings of reality or paranoia ie zyprexa, risperidal.

Sleepers.

some people with bpd find sleeping difficult. your doctor may prescribe sleepers but are usually reluctant to prescribe them for longer than two weeks due to the fact they are highly addictive.
